Rural Technology and Business Incubator (RTBI)
Rural Technology and Business Incubator (RTBI) is IITM's incubator facilitating rural-inclusive technology and business innovation in India. Its mission is to design,
pilot and incubate scalable business ventures with a rural focus. Significantly, it provides leadership, funding, and an incubation eco-system suitable to entrepreneurs at any phase in their venture including the very early conceptual stage. RTBI's incubation sectors include education, health, agriculture, financial inclusion, vocational training,
micro-enterprise development and technology solutions appropriate to rural needs.
IITM's Telecom Centre of Excellence endeavors to have strong incubation and entrepreneurship development programmes to realize the full business potential of the innovations, technologies and products coming out of TCOE system. It is an opportunity for the younger generation of the country to work on challenging real world problems, cutting-edge technologies and transform knowledge into wealth. The company has collaboration agreements with reputed foreign universities for cross platform training and joint research programmes.
The Centre of Excellence in Wireless Technology (CEWiT)
CEWiT is a public private initiative striving to make India a leader in research, development and deployment of wireless technology. CEWiT believes that the broadband wireless technology may expand rapidly if its performance is good and cost effective. As research on wireless technology is moving from the third to fourth generation, CEWiT seeks to enact a proactive role in assisting public institutions in policy making, spectrum management, and regulation and be a force multiplier for Indian wireless industry.
Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC)
Healthcare Technology Innovation Centre (HTIC), a multi-disciplinary R&D centre, is a joint initiative of Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) and Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India that brings together technologists, engineers, doctors and healthcare professionals, industry and government to develop healthcare technologies for the country. The vision of HTIC is to develop technologies that create impact and drive innovation in healthcare and be a leader known for technical excellence and collaborative spirit.
HTIC collaborates with leading medical institutions and wide range of industry players in various areas such as ophthalmology, ultrasonography, orthopedics, neonatal care, patient monitoring, to develop and deploy healthcare technologies.
In addition to technology research and development, HTIC works closely with industry in developing R&D solutions, joint development of technology products, technology assessment and evaluation. HTIC also works to develop human resources in healthcare technology in the country through various channels including Innovation fellowships, IITM students and interns.
Under the Bio - Incubator Support Scheme (BISS), BIRAC has established several new, world-class bio - incubators around the country, including one at IIT- Madras.
With the objective of fostering Indian biotech innovation and entrepreneurship, it aims to enhance R&D capabilities of start-ups and SMEs in order to develop globally competitive products.
Centre for Technology and Policy (CTaP)
The Centre aims to cast new light by taking a strongly inter-disciplinary approach involving the engineering and social science faculties as well as the incubation centres of the Institute.
The Center would Promote better understanding to improve the two-way interaction between tech and policy

IITM Incubation Cell (IITMIC) coordinates and leverages the synergies in various strands of excellence driving innovation and entrepreneurship at IIT Madras, consisting of cutting edge research, industrial interactions, India’s first university-driven Research Park and a stellar record of incubation in rural, social and industrial technologies.
