The Forbes India Leadership Awards 2024 recognized Prof. Ashok Jhunjhunwala, President of IITM Research Park and IITM Incubation Cell, with ‘The Ecosystem Enabler’ award. MD and CEO of Kotak Mahindra Bank, Ashok Vaswani, presented the award on stage to the visionary.

This new category of ‘Ecosystem Enabler’ award was extended to him taking note of his role in envisioning and establishing IITM Research Park at the centre of an ecosystem of industry-academia partnerships. The forum also acknowledged his vast range of work in areas that mirror the evolution of Indian technology from wireless telephony and mobile banking to solar equipment and battery swapping for electric vehicles.

Speaking on stage, the Professor shared his views on the potential of youth, technology, and the prevailing deep-tech ecosystem. “It is okay to fail as long as you’re willing to try again and succeed,” he said as words of encouragement.
